Edit a task

You can edit the information in system and custom task fields on a task-by-task basis. You can also create new values for custom task fields while editing a task.

  1. On the Estimates page, select a PBS element.
  2. Go to a task header and click More Options > Edit. Alternatively, double-click the task header.
  3. Change the task's name, description, length of time, and profit/fee rate as needed.
  4. Change any custom task field values as needed. You can click to add a new task field value.
  5. Click Close.

Change a task's duration

In a proposal without start and end dates, you can manually update a task's duration.

  1. In the task's Duration setting, change the number of months that the task will last.
  2. Click Close.
A task's duration cannot exceed the proposal's duration.

Offset a task's duration

In a proposal without start and end dates, you can shift a task's duration within the proposal's duration. This only affects when the task starts and ends, so the number of months in its duration stays the same.

  1. In the task's Offset setting, enter the number of months to move the duration by.
  2. Click Close.
A task cannot be offset until its duration is shorter than the proposal's duration. In other words, there must be enough "room" in the proposal's duration before you can move a task around in it.
