Resource estimates

Resources accomplish the work in a task. On the Estimates page, you can assign a resource to a task directly by inputting the estimated level of effort in the appropriate intersecting grid cell. The hours/units/cost value you enter in the cell is called a resource estimate. For more accuracy, open the resource estimate details and enter your data there.

At any time, you can edit the information in external resource fields and custom resource fields. You can also create new values for custom fields while editing a resource.

All available resources come from the proposal's direct rate table. Since direct rate tables are created and maintained in ProPricer Contractor Edition Enterprise, your resources should already be configured by the time you start estimating.

Each time you select a resource from a direct rate table and add it to a proposal, you must give the resource a unique name in EstimatorFLEX. This name is called a resource alias. If you use the Resource Alias Naming feature in your system settings, EstimatorFLEX will automatically name your proposals' resources.

Resources you've added to proposal breakdown structure (PBS) elements could later become invalid if they are no longer in the proposal's direct rate table. You might encounter invalid resources after assigning a different table to the proposal, or after synchronizing all the proposal's external data. Invalid resources will be highlighted red in the grid, like this:

To focus on direct resource estimates only, change the estimate type to Resource in the drop-down menu above the grid on the Estimates page.
